Event 1: Cosmological Events

On 4/21, I attended a meeting where I had the opportunity to listen to Claudia and Professor Vesna talk about Cosmological Elements. They discussed the idea of how natural sciences and philosophy are brought together to study the world and the space in between, the elements that constitute objects in the cosmos, and the elements that can also become central to studying the universe and life on planet Earth.

The talk explored the idea of cosmological elements through scientific and cultural lenses and how shifts in these elements can affect social life, space exploration, and the human relationship with the universe. This talk has helped me to understand various topics and concepts in the study of this course, such as how the combination of arts, science, math, and robotics can help us better understand the universe and the world around us. The talk showed me how scientific research meets the universe halfway and how it inspires awe and lets us experience the preciousness of life. I also learned about space ecology and how the elements form planets with minerals, potentially lifeless and potentially life-friendly environments develop and grow. Furthermore, the event explored human visions, missions, and dreams of potential human futures in space.

In a nutshell, if you're interested in learning about how science, arts, math, and robotics can help us understand the universe and our place in it, then this event is definitely worth checking out! Claudia and Professor Vesna's talk on Cosmological Elements were fascinating, and it provided me with a better understanding of the elements that make up our world and how they interact with each other. It was also great to hear about human visions and dreams of space exploration and to think about the potential consequences of ruining the potential to live healthy lives on planet Earth.

I have included the art statement mentioned in the meeting here: https://cosmoselements.art/statement. The three threads of cosmological elements mentioned in the text are: (1) the physical elements and forces that constitute stars, planets, and life, (2) the manifestation of these elements in space, and (3) human visions, missions, and ideas of floating civilizations in space (“Statement - Cosmological Elements.”). These threads are important as they provide a comprehensive exploration of cosmological elements, highlighting the interconnectedness of science, philosophy, and human experiences.

Feel free to read over it to get a sense of what cosmological elements is about.
